A Tribute to Sensory Details and Self Care
This craft talk will focus on writing strategies that engage readers. A whiff of fresh bread, the feeling of a shoe stuck in gum, the sound of skiers carving snow—if you can access memories and feelings via the five senses, readers will care about your world and come along for the ride. But what toll does immersive writing take on us when some of the events we portray involve dramatic and/or traumatic memories? Let’s talk about the self-respect and love that goes into writing close-to-the-bone plotlines! Examples for this talk will include fiction and nonfiction prose.
